Ruth's Random Distraction, Day 12

Sorry I didn't post for Day 11. I was too distracted by my own hangover.

Most students are finished with finals though, so I don't feel so bad. In fact, today's distraction, while perhaps not as fun as Text Twist or as addicting as Collapse, is bound to keep you tied up for hours.

Because today's distraction is calling your mom and wishing her a happy mother's day. :)

Congrats to all the 1Ls for finishing their first year! I've still got one exam to go. Ugh.

Well, I think I passed BA. ;) To celebrate, today's distraction is actually tonight's distraction. That's right. SBA End of the Year Party. Buffalo Billiards. $1000 tab starts at 11:00. See you there. I won't be driving. Heh.

If you're lame and not going to party tonight, there's still distraction to be had. Mr. &Vodka has the Official Cheating Rumor Mill going. While I'd prefer not to have names listed here, he's calling for "hard, sexy, soundbyte-worthy rumors." So have at it.

Today's distraction was sent in by a reader and features a guy with way too much time (and Lego bricks) on his hands. The Brick Testament is the Bible illustrated by Lego bricks. And when I say illustrates, I mean that you can find Lego-illustrated incest. Yes. It's Legos, so even the sex scenes are pretty work safe. You may get a few odd looks though as the people around you shake their heads sadly at how kids get their kicks these days. Anyway, there are plenty of stories there, so read them all and report back with the funniest scenes.

Today's distraction will be quick, as I am about to embark on 24 hours of exam. :( So if you need a quick break today, play a round or two of Text Twist.

See you on the other side of 24 hours.

Today's distraction is an oldie-but-goodie. Spend your study breaks today at Every Video Game. I just came off a really bad Tetris game. *sigh* No worries. I'll get a better score later.

For today's distraction, I present AnnieAngel, who instructs women on the fine art of being a good Christian wife. (Found via [info]otf_wank.) Is it a parody? One would think that with such classic lines as "Always serve fresh orange juice, only whores use frozen," that it's clearly meant to be ridiculous. Some of the commenters aren't so sure. Discussions about who exactly is going to hell and how quickly follow. Also look for some key jabs at "feminists who think that only they are true women because they go out and steal jobs from men and ignore their children," and other key quotes. Whether you find the original post and the comments amusing or just find yourself weeping for humanity again, the entire thread should at least boggle your mind and keep you from studying, and that's the point, isn't it? If you're in any of my classes, I recommend spending as much time reading the thread as possible. *nods*

I was in the middle of taking a practice exam for Copyright last night when my power went out. At first I thought, "No problem, that's what laptop batteries are for." But then I realized that I couldn't read my notes/outline, and let's face it, I don't know Copyright well enough to go sans outline. So then I thought I'd find solace in blogging about my problem, but, well, no no power means no wireless. So I went to bed, thinking that as it was somewhat early, I'd at least get a good night's rest. Thanks to the rain, the lightning, the thunder, my freaked-out cat, and my idiot neighbors who were for some reason outside yelling (but without any urgency in their voices, leading me to believe that they are just idiots and that their apartment wasn't flooded or anything), a good night's rest was not in the cards for me. Add to that the lack of AC from lack of power and the fact that the power went on and off every two hours or so throughout the night, and you have a very unrested and unprepared Ruth.

So, today's Distraction (for me and my fellow Copyright classmates)... find instances of copyright infringement in this blog. Evaluate claims against me and any defenses I might have. ;)

For everyone else, waste some time watching Steve Colbert's "The Word".

Classical Cartoons

I've been listening to classical music while studying. Mostly this is because I tend to sing along with every song that has words, which isn't so great when I'm making a real attempt to review/learn material.
Anyway, I'm amazed at how many of the songs I recognize.

I'm even more amazed because I'm fairly certain I recognize them from Bugs Bunny cartoons.

And people call television "the stupid box." Hmph.
