Happy Birthday to Me

  • Feb. 3rd, 2007 at 12:10 AM
Love
So about an hour after I arrived for my weekly poker night, Infamous El Guapo came in with a cake ablaze. I think it actually had all 26 candles. I started laughing and couldn't get them all out in one breath. What does that mean for the state of my wish by the way? Anyway, the cake had pink trim and pink candles. My friends know me so well. *loves* Then I proceeded to clean up in poker. I think they were letting me win, because I rarely win in poker.

Antonin gave me a Columbia brand zip-up fleece and then got himself a matching one because we both only liked the one color. I'm way more excited about the fleece than a normal person should be, but the only fleece I have is a red and black pullover one, and that always puts static in my hair. And my hooded sweatshirts are all in colors that don't lend themselves to wearing with anything. So now I have a charcoal fleece that's really cozy and won't make my hair stick straight up.

So, I've made my birthday wishes, and hopefully whether it will come true or not isn't dependent on getting the candles all out at once. Thanks to everyone who made my birthday special. I don't even have a funny comment to make there, because really, I just feel so loved.

Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday yesterday (it was very happy in a drunk sort of way). I'm especially proud of my public interest-type friends who stayed out till closing time despite the fact that they have a full day of interviews lined up today. Just for that, they deserve to get the job, if you ask me. And when TLF pledge week comes 'round, you can bet that I'll be telling everyone to vote for them. :) Good luck on your interviews, guys!

Now, an important announcement: There are Girl Scouts (of the cookie-selling variety) outside Lava Java right now. Cookies, as you know, are $3 a box. People, you can't get quality crack like this for any cheaper. As a former Girl Scout and current cookie enthusiast, I urge you to take advantage of this opportunity.

Finally, I leave you with this gem, overheard in the Tom Clark lounge:

(A group of 1Ls, talking about getting rejection letters from firms they sent stuff to over the break.)

Random 1L Girl: I've gotten so many rejection letters. One firm actually sent me two rejection letters.

Random 1L Guy: I got a rejection letter from a firm I didn't even apply to.

Nice.
